Magnussen Designs has been serving the Puget Sound and beyond area since 1988. Founded by Brian Magnussen, Magnussen Designs provides a complete home design service to make every clients dream a success. I am here to support your vision and unlock your building design dreams. I exclusively use the latest and best design software and tools. From the best CAD software, 3d modeling and rendering tools to the best editing software.
After 3 years of higher education from Willamette University and Central Washington University I graduated from Bates Technical College in 1982 as an architectural engineering technician. I returned in 2010 to achieve an Associate of Technology degree. I have been in the architectural engineering field since graduating as a home and building designer. I currently teach Architectural Engineering Technology as a college instructor at Bates Technical College. I taught full time in class from 2002 through 2011 and now teach an online Architectural Engineering course from 2014 to the present through Bates Technical College to Zhejiang College of Construction in Zhejiang province China. Up until the pandemic I traveled to China to teach in the classroom for two weeks twice a year as a guest lecturer. I have been a certified residential plans examiner and building inspector by the International Code Council since 2013. I have been hired by Pierce County as a third party residential plans examiner from 2013 to 2021. I started my company in 1988 and have been in business for over 34 years. At Magnussen Designs I have extensive experience designing custom homes from entry level to high end view homes. I've designed everything from entire sub-divisions to individual homes on acreage. I am also the person to go to for those people who do not want to move but want to add or upgrade their existing home. I know exactly how to make an addition looks as if it were not an addition but a part of the original house.
